I have been mulling over a smaller version of this wristlet wallet design -- something useful while traveling. After a few sketches, the dimensions were finalized during my kiddies swimming lessons :)
As for fabric choices , I was looking for a Japanese-y small scale print in a non-unidirectional pattern-- when I saw these cute chicks/ducks at Repodepot! They are about 1/8 th of an inch :)
Features to be included:
- a dark toned and padded wrist strap - not all my shorts and skirts have pockets and I don't always want my wallet in the bottom of a sandy beach bag! I found this roll of dark charcoal seam binding which coodinated with the navy chicks.
- pockets for ID, credit cards - A vinyl window was sewn onto the interior slip pocket. Another one could have been added on the flap too.
- a zippered pocket for coins and a cell phone - This was the trickiest part. For a wallet this size, a regular pocket would have been too small. The solution was to create an expandable pocket on one side -- it's amazing how this feature increased the storage space and the accessibility.
I loved the overall simplicity (it was fairly easy to sew after all the pieces were cut) and functionality of the finished product.... so why stop at one?
