I did it
I found this vintage cashmere blend sweater in the bottom of a drawer...holey and stained. I believe it was one of several that my mom brought into the country after her marriage. I've been hoarding it for years despite the ill-fit and the color (the butter yellow washes me out) and the brightness of the embroidered flowers...so I threw it in the washer to shrink it and took a pair of scissor to it.
Chubby, flowery pin cushions! So decadent...I keep rubbing them against my cheek! I'm keeping one with larger motifs for myself (to finally replace my red tomato) but the rest go in the shop.
This is also my entry for favorite (for this week at least :)) for whiplash.

Oh my goodness! That sure was gutsy - but look at the results! Beautiful! Does your mom know? Where did she bring the sweater from?
My mom doesn't know, but she gave me the sweater (from HK) around 20 years ago. It seemed such a waste to have it unused and I didn't want it going to Goodwill.
They're beautiful, and a much better use than sitting in the bottom of your drawers doing nothing.
Great use of something that would have been set for the giveaway box! Really cool!
What a neat idea! They really came out nicely.
thats great. reminds me of my nannas pin cushions when i was little. way to go on reusing
Those are just gorgeous. I love them!! Good job.
